Lost every RX key?

With every RX key gone, the car's list of known keys is cleared and rebuilt around the new one. We pull the blade code off the VIN, mill the blade on the van's cutter, then register the key at the car. It prices at the spare figure plus $60: $209 for an RX 300 chip key, $229 for a 2004 to 2009 key-slot car, $349 for a smart key.

Bring the RX's registration or title, along with ID in the matching name. Check the other car and the laundry pile first, because once the reset runs, a key found later no longer starts the RX unless it is programmed again. For a 2023 or newer RX we confirm on the phone, by VIN, that the job can be done where the car sits.

What does a smart key for a 2010 or newer RX cost at my car?

$289 while one RX key still works, and $349 when none is left. A Lexus service department typically quotes close to $580 for that fob with programming, tax extra, and without a working key the RX needs a tow to reach it. Our price includes the emergency blade, the drive to you and a one-year warranty.

My 2006 RX 330 has a knob where the key should go. Which key do I need?

That knob means SmartAccess, so the car takes a smart fob at $289 rather than the $169 milled-blade key. You turn the knob to start the engine while the fob rides in a cupholder or bag, and the knob usually pulls out so the emergency blade can go in the slot. The VIN tells us which fob to bring.

Is the RX 400h hybrid key any different?

Not in price. The 2006 to 2008 RX 400h sits on the same rows as the RX 330 of those years: $169 for a key-slot car with the milled blade, $289 for a car with SmartAccess. Tell us which one you have, and keep the registration handy if every key is lost, since that job adds $60.

Why is a 2008 RX 350 key priced above a 2003 RX 300 key?

They are different key generations. The RX 300 pairs a short milled blank with the 4C chip, the $149 row. The 2004 to 2009 key-slot RX moved to the 4D68 chip and a newer blank, the $169 row. Both sit well under the dealer, which typically quotes about $290 and $330 for those two keys.

Do you replace keys for the RX 450h+ plug-in and the RX 500h?

We check each 2023 and newer RX by VIN before quoting, the plug-in and the RX 500h included. The answer depends on the exact car, so we give it on the call, not in the driveway. If a key for yours has to come from the Lexus dealer, you hear that before anyone drives and before you pay anything.
