Dodge Durango Key Replacement in San Diego

A push-start Durango fob runs $249 at the SUV, compared with about $460 through a Dodge dealer. A 2011 to 2013 Durango fobik is $189 and a 2004 to 2009 chip key $145.

Three kinds of Durango key cover 2004 onward: a metal chip key on the body-on-frame second generation, a fobik on the early unibody trucks, and a push-start fob from 2014. The model year usually settles it.

For a 1998 to 2003 Durango, text the VIN and we check which key it left the factory with before quoting it. Every figure on this page includes the key, cutting, programming beside the SUV and the drive, and our lost-keys page describes a visit when nothing is left to copy.

Model yearsTypical dealerValue Car KeysYou keep
2004 to 2009: Transponder chip keySecond generation, built on a truck frame. A metal blade with the chip in its head, cut and programmed on site for $145. If lock and unlock buttons are built into your key head, the $189 remote head row applies instead. $260 $145 $115
2011 to 2013: Remote head key (Turn-key trucks; a 2011 to 2013 Durango with push-button start takes the $249 push-start fob)The fobik: a blunt plastic body holding the chip, pushed into the dash and turned like a key. Its $189 price comes off the remote head row, and the spare blade inside is shaped to the driver's door. $350 $189 $161
2014 to 2017: Smart key for push-to-startThe 2014 refresh gave most Durangos a start button, and the fob now stays in a purse or pocket. Its hidden blade is cut from the code, then the fob is registered to the immobilizer and to keyless entry. $460 $249 $211
2018 to 2025: Smart key for push-to-start (SRT and SRT Hellcat models are quoted by VIN)Security gateway years: on most trucks the port refuses key programming until we connect through a gateway bypass or a registered login, which the $249 covers. A 2026 or newer Durango is checked against its VIN before we quote. $460 $249 $211

Lost every Durango key?

When the last Durango key is gone, we start with ownership: the title or registration, shown alongside a license bearing the same name. After that we usually read the PIN from the Durango itself, cut a fresh blade to the code and teach the SUV the replacement. Spare price plus $60: $205 for a 2004 to 2009 chip key, $249 for a fobik and $309 for a push-start fob.

A dealer would need the Durango hauled in first, typically a $125 to $200 tow bill, and if the parts counter lacks the fob, add up to three more days. We finish wherever it is parked and clear the missing key out of the Durango's memory before driving off, free, so it is useless to whoever finds it.

Dodge Durango key questions

Does a 2012 Durango use a fobik or a push-button fob?

Most 2011 to 2013 Durangos use the fobik, the plastic key you seat in the dash and rotate, at $189 at the SUV. If your 2012 starts with a button instead of a twist, it takes the $249 smart key. Text us one photo showing the key and the dash, and we confirm the price before we head out.

Can you program a key for a Durango SRT or Hellcat?

Possibly, and we price those by VIN before we drive rather than quoting the standard $249 blind. The high-output Durangos may use different fob parts from the V6 and R/T trucks, so we confirm the right one and the programming route first. If the dealer turns out to be the quicker option for your truck, we will tell you before booking anything.

How does a no-key Durango compare at the dealer and with you?

A Dodge dealer's figure for a Durango smart fob sits near $460 with programming, and a keyless SUV needs towing there, $125 to $200. An ordered fob can add up to three days. We charge $309 at the curb for the same result, drive included, and you pay only once the Durango starts.

My 2006 Durango has a chip key and a separate remote. Can you do both?

Yes. The chip key is cut and programmed for $145, and if you have a new replacement remote, we pair it while we are there, $79 to $119. If the old remote simply went quiet, try a fresh battery before buying anything; a remote that wakes back up saves you the pairing fee entirely.

My Durango fob locks the doors but the SUV will not start. Is the fob the problem?

Sometimes, and sometimes it is only the fob's battery. The buttons can still work on a weak cell while the start system stops reading the fob, so a new battery is the first thing to try. If the Durango still will not start, we check both the fob and the Durango's start system, and replace the fob for $249 only when it is the part that failed.
