Infiniti QX60 Key Replacement in San Diego

Every QX60, and the 2013 JX35 before it, starts with a button, and its Intelligent Key costs $279 at your car. Infiniti dealers usually quote around $560 for the same fob.

Infiniti launched this three-row SUV as the JX35 for 2013, renamed it QX60 for 2014, skipped the 2021 model year and returned with a redesigned QX60 for 2022. Every version uses the Intelligent Key.

Because the key type never changes, a QX60 quote comes down to two questions: which fob your VIN calls for, and whether a working key still exists. Registration on most Infinitis keeps only the keys present in the session, so gather every fob you own before we arrive, even one that seems dead. The smart key replacement page shows how a visit runs.

Model yearsTypical dealerValue Car KeysYou keep
2013 to 2013: Smart key for push-to-startSold as the JX35 for its first year: the same body the QX60 kept, and an Intelligent Key with a metal blade tucked in its shell. The fob is chosen by VIN, whatever the tailgate says. $560 $279 $281
2014 to 2020: Smart key for push-to-startFirst-generation QX60, including the 2016 facelift and the hybrid version. Button layouts vary with options such as the power liftgate and remote engine start, so the fob is matched to your VIN before we drive. $560 $279 $281
2022 to 2026: Smart key for push-to-startSecond generation, launched after Infiniti skipped 2021, with the 2026 refresh included. Its Intelligent Key is a different part from the earlier QX60's. Newer Infinitis can ask for a longer security code before registration, so we confirm coverage by VIN on the phone. $560 $279 $281

Lost every QX60 key?

With no QX60 key left, the job runs $339: the $279 Intelligent Key plus $60. We pull the key code by VIN to cut the emergency blade, obtain the security code that unlocks key registration, and register the new fob where the QX60 is parked.

As on most Infinitis, registration rewrites the QX60's key list, so any fob not present during the session will likely stop working. When every key is lost, that same rule retires the missing fob at no charge. If a second fob is only misplaced at home, find it before we arrive, or it will need registering on a later visit.

Before starting, we compare your ID with the name on the QX60's registration or title.

Infiniti QX60 key questions

Is a JX35 key the same as a QX60 key?

Largely, yes: the 2013 JX35 and the early QX60 are the same vehicle under two names, and both take the $279 Intelligent Key job. We still match the exact fob to your VIN, since button layouts vary with options such as remote start. A 2022 or newer QX60 takes a different fob altogether.

What does a spare QX60 fob cost if I still have one?

$279, registered next to the fob you already have, its blade cut to your key code in the van. Bring every QX60 fob you own, because on most Infinitis registration keeps only the keys present in the session. An Infiniti dealer's usual figure is about $560 for the same programmed fob, before tax.

Can you register a QX60 fob I bought online?

Often, provided it is fresh from the box and was never registered to another vehicle. Send us the part number and FCC ID before you buy so we can check it against your VIN. Registration of a customer-supplied fob costs $79 to $119; the dealer's service desk asks $120 to $200. A secondhand fob from another QX60 usually cannot be reused.

Does the dealer need my QX60 in the service bay to make a key?

Usually, yes. An Infiniti store programs keys at its service counter, which means a keyless QX60 is hauled in first, commonly for $125 to $200. When the fob is on back order, the SUV then sits there one to three days. Our route skips both: the blade is cut and the fob registered wherever the car is parked, $279 with a key to copy, $339 without.

Is the QX60 Hybrid key any different?

Not in price or process. The QX60 Hybrid uses an Intelligent Key registered the same way as the gas model of its year, and the job is the same $279. Button layout depends on options such as remote engine start, which is why the VIN, not the hybrid badge, picks the part.
