Ford Fusion Key Replacement in San Diego

A Fusion flip key for 2013 to 2020 cars is $169 in your parking space, about $140 under the typical Ford dealer bill. Push-button Fusions take a $239 fob.

Ford built the Fusion from the 2006 to the 2020 model year, and its key changed once in a big way: the 2013 redesign swapped the edge-cut chip key for the milled HU101 blade and offered a push-button fob.

Whether the sedan sits in an office lot in Sorrento Valley or a condo garage in Mission Valley, the key is made right there, with the chip type Ford used and a one-year warranty. Your year and trim set the quote on the phone. For an unused fob or flip key you already own, pairing alone is $79 to $119.

2006 to 2009: Transponder chip keyEdge-cut Ford key with a 40-bit chip in a plain black head. Remote locking, where fitted, came on a fob of its own. $240 $129 $111
2010 to 2012: Transponder chip keyThe refresh kept the edge-cut blade. Some cars carry the 80-bit chip and some the 40-bit, so the VIN decides. Lock buttons in the key head mean you need the $169 remote head key. $240 $129 $111
2013 to 2016: Remote head key (S and most SE cars use the flip key; most Titanium cars came with the $239 push-button fob, and some SE buyers added it)The second-generation Fusion takes the HU101 blade, grooved down each face, which tucks into a flip key. None of the earlier Fusion keys fit its ignition. $310 $169 $141
2017 to 2020: Remote head key (S and most SE cars keep the flip key; Titanium, Sport and Platinum usually start with the $239 fob)The facelift added a rotary shifter and the Sport and Platinum trims. The keys look like the 2013 to 2016 parts, but we match the exact part to the VIN before we drive. $310 $169 $141

Lost every Fusion key?

Lose the only Fusion key and the sedan stays put while we come to it. From the VIN we pull the code for the blade, edge-cut through 2012 or HU101 from 2013, and the machine on board cuts it; the immobilizer is then programmed through the diagnostic socket. First-generation cars may impose a timed security wait before new keys can be added.

Push-button cars, usually the Titanium, Sport and Platinum, get a new fob and its internal blade, set up for both the immobilizer and push-button start. The bill runs $60 over the normal key price, and we check your title or registration against photo ID. The lost Fusion keys are erased before we leave, so they no longer start the car.

Ford Fusion key questions

Which key fits a 2015 Fusion SE that starts with a button?

It takes the $239 Intelligent Access fob, because a start button on an SE means the car was ordered with the option that most Titanium models had as standard. Its slide-out emergency blade is cut to your code as part of that price. A Ford dealer typically charges about $450 for that fob, programming included.

Why is my Fusion key $169 when older Fords start at $129?

Because a 2013 and newer Fusion usually carries a flip key, which puts the lock buttons, the chip and the folding HU101 blade in one part. That is the $169 remote head key. The $129 price is for the edge-cut chip keys used through 2012. Without buttons, an HU101 chip key is $149 when the car just needs a second key that starts it.

How do I program a spare for my 2009 Fusion with two keys?

Ford builds the procedure into the car. With a new key cut on a 40-bit blank, turn your first working key to On and then Off, do the same with the second key right away, then turn the new one to On before the time limit in the owner's manual runs out. If it took, the new key starts the engine. With fewer than two keys, a spare from us is $129.

I bought a Fusion flip key online. Can you program it?

Often, yes. It has to be unused, never paired to another vehicle, and the right part number for your Fusion. Pairing a supplied key or fob is $79 to $119 at the car, and cutting its blade to your key code gets priced during that same phone call. Send a photo of the listing or the part number and we will check the match before you pay for it.

What does a Ford dealer charge to replace a lost Fusion Titanium fob?

Typically about $450 for the fob with programming, and moving a car with no key to the service drive means a tow that usually runs $125 to $200. The part may also need to be ordered. We charge $239 for the fob, or $299 when every key is gone, programmed where the Fusion is parked, with the blade inside the fob and the drive included.
